Design Manager – Water

Jacobs is seeking a Design Manager to lead the design strategy for a £Billion water infrastructure programme in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design lifecycle from concept through commissioning, driving multidisciplinary design teams.
• Ensure compliance with technical standards, UK CDM regulations and NEC3/4 contract requirements.
• Own value engineering, value management, and buildability initiatives.
• Manage stakeholder engagement, client expectations, and change control.
• Promote innovation in design, including standardisation and design automation.
• Mentor engineers and support their professional development.
• Contribute to business growth through client relationship management.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager on quality and delivery plans and monitor technical performance.

Qualifications

• Proven technical leadership in large‑scale infrastructure design and project management.
• Expertise in multidisciplinary engineering and construction integration.
• Extensive knowledge of CDM regulations and processes.
• Experience with NEC3/4 contracts and change control.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues to diverse stakeholders.
• Track record of leading teams autonomously across complex projects.
• A passion for problem‑solving, innovation and cultural leadership.
