Design Researcher (12-Month FTC) – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract. Salary: £59,850–£66,500. Hours: Full‑time. Locations: Bristol, Leeds, Halifax. Hybrid working model: at least two days per week in office, 40% office. Monthly travel to London office required. The end date is Friday 07 November 2025.

About the Opportunity

At Lloyds Banking Group we value Design Research. With a team of 70+ researchers, we shape product and service development across the bank. In this role you’ll work within the Payments area – creating great customer experiences that enable money movement.

You’ll develop and lead the research strategy for a key service area, manage the research plan and roadmap, and deliver research at all phases of the product development lifecycle. Your work will solve customer problems, uncover new opportunities and guide what is created. You’ll collaborate with designers, product owners and engineers, and share insights widely across the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working closely with design and product teams to identify and prioritise research questions
  • Collaborative approach to research
  • Ability to create research roadmaps and plans that keep teams on track, setting short‑term objectives and strategic direction
  • Deep qualitative research experience – usability testing (moderated and unmoderated), concept testing, depth interviews
  • Experience running quantitative studies (e.g. surveys) and analysing results
  • Skilled in synthesising insights in an actionable manner to generate a shared understanding of user needs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders clearly and concisely
  • Experience combining qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Ethnographic experience (e.g. contextual enquiry, diary studies)
  • Ability to triangulate research and data from different sources to tell compelling customer stories
  • Willingness to share expertise and learn from others
