Key responsibilities

  • Collaborating with multiple development teams to reliably deliver AWS services into production environments.
  • Creating and improving processes for releasing, monitoring, and patching services.
  • Identifying issues and driving solutions to ensure rock-solid stability and performance.

A day in the life

Systems Engineering roles involve solving problems with Linux skills, keeping software up-to-date, providing data and metrics to manage capacity and efficiency, identifying and troubleshooting system issues, and communicating clearly. Candidates are self-starters, comfortable with ambiguity and change, customer-obsessed, and focused on understanding and resolving customer pain points quickly and completely.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of Linux system administration
  • Experience with systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc
  • Experience with network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
  • Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
  • Exposure to cloud computing concepts and design considerations
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Experience with monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar)
