Job ID: 3080348 | AWS EMEA SARL (UK Branch)

Would you like to help implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solve the most complex technical problems? Are you excited by the prospect of building and running the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure to provide a better world for future generations?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) builds and operates some of the largest internet infrastructure on the planet, providing companies of all sizes with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud. AWS UC (Utility Computing) supports Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things, Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll help deliver EC2-related capabilities and support for customers. This is an opportunity to operate and engineer systems on a massive scale and gain world‑class experience in cloud computing. You’ll work with a team that values first-class service, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Top reasons to join our team include delivering disruptive products, solving complex, first-order problems at massive scale, learning to build and operate distributed systems, and contributing to tools and utilities that run our internal services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with multiple development teams to reliably deliver AWS services into production environments.
  • Creating and improving processes for releasing, monitoring, and patching services.
  • Identifying issues and driving solutions to ensure rock-solid stability and performance.
  • Operational stability focus: dive deep into root causes, drive mitigations for customer issues, and consult with peers to improve service quality.

A day in the life: Systems Engineers develop a broad range of skills, use Linux to solve problems, keep software up-to-date, provide data and metrics to manage capacity and efficiency, and communicate clearly with teammates. They are self-starters, comfortable with ambiguity and change, and customer-obsessed—seeking quick and complete resolutions to customer pain points.

About the team and AWS: AWS values diverse experiences and inclusion, and provides mentorship and career growth opportunities. We emphasize work/life balance and a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and innovation.
