WithYou is a drug, alcohol and mental health charity employing over 1,600 staff with more than 80 services across England and Scotland. We provide support and advice to more than 100,000 people a year, helping them stay safe and healthy, make small changes or stop unwanted habits. We offer face-to-face, community and online support and work to raise awareness around drugs, alcohol and mental health so that more people can get help.

Job responsibilities

Join us as our new Digital Communications Lead. You will shape strategy and deliver it through developing our social media approach, creating standout web content and digital campaigns, driving our online presence, engaging key audiences and inspiring more people to connect with our vital services. The role is both strategic and practical: set the direction for our digital channels (including prioritising organisational social media channels) while also getting hands-on with delivery. You will bring experience of digital communications and channel management, influence strategy, and deliver great content day-to-day.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead engagement across social media, including paid advertising
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders across multiple locations
  • Produce video and photographic content and use design and editing tools
  • Apply excellent news sense and editorial judgment to create shareable content
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences and adapt messaging for social media

Essential Skills

  • Proven track record of leading, developing and growing engagement on social media, including paid advertising
  • Strong relationship-building, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple locations
  • Confidence and skill in using digital tools and platforms – including producing video and photographic content and using design and editing programmes
  • Excellent news sense and editorial judgment, with an understanding of shareable content
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with experience adapting messaging for specific audiences on social media
