EY’s Risk Consulting Practice helps leading organisations navigate complex risk landscapes by delivering integrated, technology-enabled solutions across risk management, internal audit, internal controls and controls transformation.

This senior leadership role is suited to a driven, passionate individual with an established network and a track record in opportunity generation and sales. You will engage with senior client personnel and lead complex engagements across our process and controls solutions, leveraging industry networks to identify and convert opportunities and build strong relationships with C-suite executives.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Leverage established networks across sectors to identify, pursue and convert opportunities; contribute to proposals and thought leadership.
  • Engagement Delivery: Lead delivery of Risk Consulting engagements (e.g., risk management, internal audit, UK Corporate Reform, SOX 404, controls transformation); ensure high-quality outcomes and identify sell-on work.
  • Agility: Balance sales activity with engagement management and ability to self-start.
  • Trusted Advisor: Serve as a primary client contact on regulations (UK Corporate Reform, SOX, Global Internal Audit Standards) and explain regulatory impacts on internal controls and reporting.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and tailor solutions to their needs.
  • Process & Controls Leadership: Lead across process and controls solutions; develop and nurture talent and foster a positive team culture.
  • Solution Development: Create and enhance risk and control strategies, policies and governance offerings.
  • Quality and Risk Management: Demonstrate compliance with quality and risk management principles.
  • Business Acumen: Understand broader business context including financial, operational and compliance considerations.
  • Learning and Development: Promote continuous learning and development within the team.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with risk, IT, compliance, finance and security teams to deliver integrated risk management solutions.
  • Team Mentorship: Mentor and develop Risk professionals and foster a growth-oriented environment.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about regulatory changes and risk best practices.
  • Performance Excellence: Monitor engagement metrics and proactively address deviations to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders and adapt style as needed.

Skills and Experience

  • Industry Expertise: Deep expertise in risk, processes and controls solutions with agility across solutions and sectors.
  • Business Development: Proven success in leveraging networks to identify and convert opportunities; experience with proposals and thought leadership.
  • Relationships: Experience building relationships with C-suite executives and discussing complex risk solutions.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK Corporate Reform and SOX compliance; ability to guide clients on regulatory impacts.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire, develop and motivate a team; foster collaboration and growth.
  • Ethical Standards: Strong ethics and integrity; ensure compliance with standards.
  • Proactive Learning: Self-starter with commitment to continuous learning and growth.
  • Adaptability: Able to navigate changing regulatory environments and emerging risks.
  • Audit & Accounting Experience: Experience in external audit and financial accounting to support strong control frameworks.
  • Systems Expertise: Familiarity with core systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Transformation and Digital Solutions: Experience delivering transformation and digital solutions to client problems.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in leading risk, process and controls services at large, complex organisations.
  • Relevant professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience delivering risk, process and controls solutions including SOX 404 implementation.
  • Experience enabling regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., UK Corporate Reform, SOX and other industry-specific regulations).
