Overview

The case handlers will be required to attend court on an ad-hoc basis. There are approximately 15 people in the teams. Could work from home two days a week, but would want a minimum of 50% of time in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the caseload for the disrepair surveying team responsible for responsive repairs to the council's stock of dwellings, buildings and land managed by Landlord Services, including reviewing Particulars of Claims submitted as disrepair claims against BCC, monitoring progress from start to completion, ensuring delivery of high quality work, achieving "right-first-time" delivery and high customer satisfaction within budgetary targets.
  • Provide a cost effective, value for money service and maintain day-to-day supervision of administration staff in the team.
  • Act as lead consultant providing expert witness advice and reports to a range of officers in relation to technical housing matters, including PAD applications, FOIs, SARs, EIRs, Ombudsman reports, Disrepair claims, and complaints, and Accident Litigation claims.
  • Attend court to act as a witness for BCC to defend disrepair claims as part of the role.
