Electrical Design Engineer - Building Services

Location: Harrogate (Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 Basic, Plus Bonus, And Benefits

Overview

With over 25 years' combined experience within the industry, our client is a leading MEP services design consultancy providing sustainable long-term building and engineering solutions to fulfil their clients' needs. They have strong year-on-year growth and are expanding their service offering to meet increasing customer demand and sustainability goals.

Role Responsibilities

• The Electrical Engineer will manage workload and technical standards of local design engineering with support from the Project Lead and Manager.
• Produce fee proposals and monitor resource profile and profitability of projects, with support to develop these skills.
• Design electrical (and potentially some mechanical) services, including preparation of drawings, calculations, Contractors' proposals, and all relevant supporting documentation for Pricing and Construction stages to meet client requirements.
• Work towards Chartership where applicable.

Technical

• Support the Lead Engineer with input to the production of monthly management reports.
• Support the Directors with design queries.
• Attend regular Principal Engineer meetings to discuss design department matters (resource, projects, design issues, etc.).
• Attend design meetings with client/Lead Engineer to accept design briefs and advise on proposed work.
• Arrange required survey work and preparation of Contractors' Proposals.
• Arrange preparation of drawings and technical backup for planning applications.
• Design electrical/mechanical services including calculations, layout drawings, and specifications.
• Carry out design reviews in line with design QA documents.
• Participate in project handover meetings including defects and incomplete works inspections.
• Ensure team members are informed of new developments in sustainable technology and related training.
• Deliver technical presentations to end users, clients, and staff.
• On BIM-enabled projects, define information roles and duties per ISO 19650 or BEP.

Experience / Qualifications

• Proven ability to support Managers.
• Formal qualifications covering Electrical Building Services with substantial experience in design and calculation of electrical systems (small power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, data, utilities).
• Computer literate with AutoCAD and design software including Dialux, Relux, Amtech; Recite MEP (preferred).
