Your Team
You will work closely with likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging multi-disciplinary projects. The Building Services team in the Northern Region consists of more than 50 Mechanical, Electrical, and public health engineers across the Manchester, Leeds, Teeside, Glasgow & Edinburgh offices. You will be based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office, offering easy commuting options and amenities just around the corner. You will be supported by local, regional and international experts along with an extensive technical library and specifications.
A Little More About Your Role
- Have a proven track record in delivering projects for your discipline and in line with client expectations.
- Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.
- Review design programmes and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works in line with technical and commercial performance and delivery.
- Work with initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of your discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
- Work under the clear direction of the client and interpret project needs to meet delivery requirements.
- Promote WSP’s capabilities and expertise in the region.
- Supervise the completion of detailed designs and the work of others in this function.
- Consider project feasibility specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
- Direct others in the production of detailed and performance specifications for the discipline, subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
- Development and line management of junior staff.
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
- BEng/BSc/MEng in applicable engineering discipline
- CIBSE / IET / Engineering Council Chartership or working towards it
- Revit MEP training applied to the discipline
- Leadership skills
- A proven track record of delivering a variety of projects in terms of scale and sector
- Ability to engage with clients, contractors and design team members in technical discussions and coordination
- Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively to both construction professionals and client teams
- Detailed understanding of the regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this through calculation
- Working understanding of latest electrical design software packages to allocate/direction work on projects
- Good understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allocate/direction of work on projects
- Understanding of UK and European regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this in project execution
- Must be able to obtain UK vetting level of Security Check (SC)
