We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Engineer (C&I) to help deliver high-integrity control systems that meet exacting performance and safety standards. You will work within our product development team, collaborating with stakeholders to understand high-level system requirements and refine them for hardware, software, and electronic product design. You will work with product owners and development teams using agile Scrum methods to develop high-integrity software and FPGA-based applications, adopting the latest toolsets. Training will be provided where required to equip you with the skills necessary to develop the requirements and system architecture essential for the protection and monitoring of a nuclear propulsion plant.

Key Accountabilities

  • Specify product-level requirements and collaborate with design teams and vendors to ensure they are met.
  • Work as a control systems engineer to understand and refine system requirements for hardware, software, and electronic product design.
  • Collaborate with product owners and development teams using agile Scrum methods to develop high-integrity software and FPGA-based applications with state-of-the-art toolsets.
  • Manage system requirements, including traceability, through product maturity gates.
  • Verify the final product design against system design requirements.
  • Engage across the Rolls-Royce organisation to foster learning and maintain a strong systems engineering capability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of system development processes and product quality through regular audits.
  • Understand controls engineering technologies and apportion requirements accordingly.
  • Work with Product Owners to define product definitions against higher-level system requirements.

What we're looking for

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or related discipline.
  • Strong background in Systems Engineering.
  • Proficiency in requirements capture and management (DOORS).
  • Practical experience with PLC development and FPGA technology.
  • Proven experience working in or with Agile/Scrum delivery models.
  • Awareness of safety-critical development constraints and relevant safety standards (e.g., DO-178B/C, IEC 60880, IEC 61508).
