Overview

Our local authority client, based in the East Midlands, is looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Health (EP) Specialist to cover the following areas:

  • To write IPPC reports, risk rate premises.
  • To review permits submitted.
  • To complete permit variations.
  • Where required, support technical officers in statutory nuisance investigations.

You will also be expected to undertake inspections of premises, business operations, construction sites and permitted processes as required by statute and/or the Authority’s policies and procedures, and in line with legal requirements and other statutory/non-statutory controls so as to ensure a satisfactory resolution, including any enforcement action necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Write IPPC reports and risk rate premises.
  • Review permits submitted and complete permit variations.
  • Support technical officers in statutory nuisance investigations when required.
  • Conduct inspections of premises, business operations, construction sites and permitted processes in accordance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
  • Ensure satisfactory resolutions and take enforcement action as necessary.

Qualifications

Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health (or equivalent) is essential. Must have knowledge and experience in contaminated land and planning consultations, and the ability to deliver high-quality responses.

Contract and Pay

This contract will run for an initial 20 weeks. Full-time is preferred, but part-time and flexible arrangements are welcome. Hybrid working is acceptable (approximately 50/50). Pay rates will be up to £44 per hour.
