We currently have exciting opportunities for Water Quality Modellers to join us in Leeds, Newcastle, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Manchester.

Stantec is working in partnership with water companies across the UK and Ireland, as well as with a broader stakeholder community, to develop effective and sustainable water and wastewater solutions that address the environmental needs of our inland waters and coast. This requires an integrated team that can work across the water cycle to meet industry‑wide efficiency and environmental challenges.

Key to our growth is the continuous development of our skills, knowledge and expertise in understanding the context of water quality within environmental systems. Through integration with other knowledge in urban and natural catchments, we collaborate with a range of stakeholders to help clients and communities develop solutions that deliver sustainable and efficient environmental performance.

About You

You will be degree‑qualified in science, mathematics, or engineering, with postgraduate qualifications and/or experience within the water industry, and either be working towards or already be a chartered member of a relevant professional institution.

You should have some working experience with at least one type of water quality modelling software (e.g. MIKE, Delft3D, Telemac or AEM3D) with demonstrable application in estuarine, marine or coastal systems. You will have a basic understanding of physico‑chemical water quality and the associated regulatory standards for fresh and marine waters.

You should have a basic understanding of coding within programmes such as Python or R. You will also have the necessary skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, working closely with clients and other professional staff across multidisciplinary business groups.

Key Accountabilities

  • Delivery of technically sound quantitative models to support wider project delivery.
  • Author and reviewer of technical evidence‑led reports, including compliance with our quality assurance processes.
  • Provide timely technical input and expertise to multidisciplinary projects and programmes of work.
  • Build client relationships and continuously develop our services across the UK and the Water sector.
  • Mentor junior staff and strengthen relationships with other disciplines.
