About the Job
Are you purpose-driven and ready to help shape the future of sustainable cotton? Join us at Better Cotton as Executive Coordinator, supporting the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and 2–3 Senior Directors.
Better Cotton is the world’s largest cotton sustainability initiative. Through our network of field-level partners, we have trained nearly 3 million farmers across 23 countries in more sustainable agricultural practices.
This role is ideal for a quick learner who is highly organised, personable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities will range from calendar and inbox management to preparing materials for high-level meetings and coordinating international travel.
The Challenge
Better Cotton has ambitious goals: cutting greenhouse gas emissions from cotton production by half, reducing synthetic pesticide use, improving soil health, strengthening farm incomes, and supporting women’s empowerment. Already, one quarter of the world’s cotton is produced under the Better Cotton Standard. With the support of farmers, ginners, spinners, brands, civil society, and governments, we are united in building a more sustainable future for cotton.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Executive Coordinator, you will play a central role in enabling the CDO and her team to deliver at pace. You will:
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate diaries.
- Oversee inboxes by flagging priorities, handling correspondence, and following up where needed.
- Arrange and coordinate international travel, prepare travel packs and briefings, manage expenses, and oversee reporting requirements.
- Provide research and inputs for key projects.
- Prepare for and support meetings, from drafting agendas and presentations to coordinating logistics.
- Track workplans and deadlines, ensuring deliverables and reporting requirements are met.
- Support internal processes, such as performance reviews, policy updates, and annual planning cycles.
- Maintain effective file management systems, ensuring information is easy to access.
- Facilitate communication between the CDO, Senior Directors, and stakeholders, ensuring timely responses and progress.
- Work closely with the CEO Office team to deliver high-level internal forums and leadership meetings.

- Strong planning and organisational skills
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Enjoys administrative and coordination tasks
- Excellent project management and time management abilities
- Able to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines
- Detail-oriented, thorough, and pragmatic
- Quick learner who can synthesise complex information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, personable and professional
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and remote collaboration tools
- Experience collaborating across teams, time zones, and contexts
- Additional languages (e.g., French, Portuguese, Hindi, Urdu, Turkish)
What we offer
- Hybrid working – Two to three days/week in the office in central London

Our hiring process
Initial Screening:
Applicant screening is a crucial step in our recruitment process. This stage may involve a brief phone interview or video call to evaluate your suitability for the position. During this screening, we review resumes and cover letters, and may conduct initial background checks to narrow down the pool of applicant. Internal candidates are encouraged to inform their line manager about their application to promote transparency and help facilitate a smooth transition if selected.
Interviews:
If you successfully pass the initial screening, you will be invited for interviews. The interview process at Better Cotton may include one or more rounds of interviews with various stakeholders, such as the hiring manager, team members, and potentially senior management. As an internal candidate, you may have discussions regarding your current responsibilities and how they will transition to the new position.
Assessment and Testing:
Depending on the role, you might be required to complete assessments, technical tests, or skills evaluations to gauge your competency and suitability for the position. Internal candidates may have the option to demonstrate their existing skills through current job performance or past project outcomes.
Reference Checks:
Once you progress further in the process, reference checks are conducted to validate your work history, skills, and qualifications, and for some roles, your education and criminal history. Internal candidates may be asked for references from current or previous supervisors within Better Cotton to provide insights into their performance and capabilities.
After completing interviews, assessments, and reference checks, the hiring team evaluates your performance and fit for the role. If you are selected and your references are relevant and satisfactory, you will receive a formal job offer letter outlining the terms of employment, compensation, benefits, and any other relevant details. For internal candidates, the offer process may include a discussion about how your transition to the new role will be managed and any support needed for a smooth handover.
