Job Title: External Affairs Manager
Location: Remote / Chandlers Ford
This is an exciting, newly created role for an experienced public affairs professional to join us as the engine of Utilita’s external affairs activity.
You’ll be responsible for driving engagement with Government, MPs, regulators and industry bodies to showcase our sector leadership and leverage exciting developments across the business, as well as contribute to the company’s overall strategic goals.
What does this role involve?
We operate in a sector which is heavily politicised and often in the headlines. It is a critical time for the industry with policy developments coming thick and fast.
We’re looking for someone to support our Head of External Affairs and move the needle for an energy company which has the highest proportion of vulnerable customers in the UK.
Day To Day, You Will
- contribute to the development of our external affairs strategy and messaging;
- prepare policy and position papers, including consultation responses, and create impactful collateral for policy audiences;
- manage delivery our engagement activities, including parliamentary engagement programmes;
- represent the business at industry forums, events and meetings, building relationships with key stakeholders;
- monitor and analyse policy developments, regulatory changes, and political trends and advise colleagues and c-suite internally;
- collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and delivery of impactful campaigns.
You will have a passion for politics, policy, and driving real change. You will believe in making a difference and will be ready to help us become the go-to pro-planet, pro-pocket supplier.
You will have experience in how policy works whether it’s in Westminster, local government, or with regulators and ideally, you will have navigated the energy, utilities or consumer sectors.
Your confidence to advise the C-suite on complexed, high-stakes issues as well as being able to blend commercial insight with political savvy will play an integral part of our future success.
You will thrive in fast-paced environments, be able to pivot quickly, and love untangling tricky situations.
Collaboration is your second nature, you’ll work closely with PR, regulatory, and other teams to deliver bold, integrated campaigns that get results.
