Are you a finance professional looking for a varied role that also has a positive impact on society? We are looking for a Finance Business Partner who is able to support a portfolio of charities and social enterprises with all their financial management needs.

Working as part of our multi-skilled team of accountants, bookkeepers and finance directors, you will support the Finance Director with the production of accurate and timely management accounts for a portfolio of clients, providing business information that satisfies client reporting requirements and enables an effective understanding of the organisation’s financial and operational performance.

You will have demonstrable skills in developing strong working relationships, together with a clear grasp of accounting concepts, backed by an accountancy qualification. We're looking for someone with good communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and problem-solve. Experience of working within the not-for-profit sector or service sector would be advantageous, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering excellent financial reporting to help our clients make effective decisions.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts packs for a range of clients.
  • Controlling the month end closedown process, including posting the payroll journal, preparing all accruals and prepayments, identifying and correcting anomalies.
  • Reconcile and manage deferred income and accrued income on large grants/restricted projects.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and post depreciation accruals.
  • Ensure all balance sheet balances agree with relevant schedules.
  • Prepare Cash Flow Forecasts and financial forecasts
  • Prepare and establish Budgets
  • Work with budget-holders and regularly attend budget meetings to support clients to manage their budgets effectively.
  • Work with organisational stakeholders at all levels: board, leadership teams, and finance staff, to improve financial controls, systems and processes.
  • Contribute to improvements in financial controls, systems and processes.

Skills

  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Qualified; or part qualified and actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
  • Proven experience in a management accounting environment.
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel to an intermediate standard.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of data.
  • Team Player.
  • A positive attitude, willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills.
  • The ability to understand, challenge and support the decision-making of values-led organisations, where mission-led outcomes balance with financial goals.
