Permanent / Hybrid | Leeds | Time Type: Full time | Worker Type: Employee

The Opportunity

As part of our continued growth in the Leeds office, we’re on the lookout for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance Reporting team. This role has opened up as we expand our capabilities and it’s a brilliant chance to step into a role that blends technical expertise with strategic impact.

You’ll be supporting the integrity and delivery of financial, management, and regulatory reporting, helping us meet executive, corporate, statutory, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong financial control.

At QBE, we’re passionate about your professional growth. You’ll gain valuable insurance and reporting experience, broaden your skillset, and contribute meaningfully to our financial responsibilities - all within a culture that champions development and continuous improvement.

Your New Role

You’ll be part of a team that’s focused on delivering high-quality reporting and insight. From shaping strategy to refining processes, your work will help drive performance and ensure we meet our obligations with confidence.

Main responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the team’s business plan to maximise productivity and performance
  • Participate in meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Refine processes, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and financial control
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal and external auditors
  • Support the production and submission of executive, board, statutory, regulatory, and Group finance reports
  • Deliver strong analytical and financial insight across all reporting responsibilities
  • Monitor and review internal processes to ensure robust controls and compliance
  • Lead and deliver continuous process improvements

About You

You’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced, cyclical environment and understands the inner workings of a finance department. You’re driven, detail-oriented, and ready to make an impact.

Skills You’ll need:

  • Part-qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or relevant experience
  • A solid understanding of best-practice accounting — ideally in insurance, but we welcome strong candidates from other industries
  • Working knowledge of accounting software and tools
  • Experience in structured process improvement within an accounting environment
  • Confidence in building controls into processes
  • A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to quality
