Overview

Public Sector Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager role within Grant Thornton’s Public Sector Financial Reporting and Accounting Support (FRAS) team. The FRAS team provides support to non-audit clients across accounting, financial reporting and finance function support for Public Sector organisations, helping Finance Directors and finance teams find sustainable solutions to complex financial, accounting and finance function challenges. We are growing the team and looking for a Manager to join as it continues to develop the service and support Public Sector organisations through current challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the delivery of a number of non-audit engagements across the range of FRAS services, with focus on delivering quality standards.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to work with clients on complex technical matters, including accounting issues, implementation of new standards, and financial reporting review and governance.
  • Take on wider team responsibilities through training and pitching new projects.
  • Involve yourself in business development and generating ideas for new service offerings.
  • Oversee team members in project delivery and support the oversight of project finances and budgets.
  • Responsible for client onboarding and building strong working relationships with clients and the team.
  • Continually strive to develop yourself and the business, with the support of the firm.

Qualifications

  • Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA).
  • Post-qualification experience in providing professional services to Local Authorities and Health bodies, or from within Local Government or Health finance functions.
  • Strong grasp of IFRS accounting standards and their implementation in the public sector; ability to respond to client accounting and financial reporting queries.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial reporting in the public sector.
  • Project management experience; ability to lead and develop relationships.
  • Business development experience would be beneficial; coaching junior colleagues.
