The Graduate Development Programme is a structured two-year scheme designed to support your development at the start of your Jacobs career journey. Through blended learning, mentoring, progress reviews and networking, you will establish yourself as knowledgeable and competent across four key focus areas: human skills, consulting skills, champion our strategy and your passions.

The GDP allows you to customise your learning journey to reflect your specific interests, career goals, and technical skillset – creating a graduate experience unique to you. It is an on-the-job learning experience, where you will work with your manager and mentor to collect meaningful learning experiences.

The programme is a launchpad for your career, offering you tools, experiences and support to work on meaningful projects and collaborate with industry leaders to deliver outcomes for complex challenges.

About The Opportunity

The Jacobs Cities & Places (C&P) team create thriving places—from regions, cities, neighbourhoods and communities to individual buildings—through an integrated design approach. We aim to build an interdisciplinary planning, design and delivery practice that sets the direction for the industry and welcomes design thinkers, disruptors, technical experts, visionaries and storytellers.

Our business unit brings together engineers, architects, surveyors, designers, place-makers, project managers and transport planners to provide collaborative and coordinated value design solutions for our clients, domestically and internationally.

Role: Graduate Project Manager

You will support the Project Manager and develop your skills in the following areas:

  • Client and Stakeholder Management – working with clients and a wide variety of public and private stakeholders to collaboratively achieve a successful outcome
  • Cost control – estimating, forecasting and monitoring project costs to proactively identify issues
  • Schedule control – planning a project timeline and monitoring against the schedule
  • Quality control – ensuring the quality assurance process is implemented to deliver high-quality outputs
  • Contract management – understanding the contract and communicating with the client
  • Team development – supporting a high-performing team to achieve its potential
  • Technical development – developing an understanding of the technical aspects of the sector

You will be supported through the Jacobs Project Management Advancement Program and may pursue professional development with bodies such as the Association of Project Managers or the Institution of Civil Engineers.

The start date for this position is September 2026.

What you'll need

  • Be working towards a relevant Degree or Master’s qualification in Project Management, Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architectural, Building Services or related degrees
  • A flexible self-starter who is keen to drive your career forward
  • Adaptable to change, with a thirst for learning
  • You must have permanent right to work in the UK
