Responsibilities

• Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers developing GEO FPGA/ASIC based satellite telecommunication payloads
• Responsible throughout the Hardware product development lifecycle for the specification, design and testing
• Detailed circuit design including schematic capture, component selection and electronic simulation
• Engineering analysis and documentation (Derating, Worst Case, Reliability, Radiation, EMI/EMC Analysis, FMECA, Power Budget)
• Supporting Hardware/Software/System integration, test, validation and qualification
• Directing in‑house and 3rd party PCB layout design teams
• Deliver prototype and product quality manufacturing packages

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years’ experience in a hardware product design role, in the Space or an equivalent High Reliability sector
• Design of complex, high‑speed circuits implemented as high‑density, multi‑layer (10+) PCBs
• Experience of circuit and PCB design and simulation tools
• Specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
  • High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc.)
  • RF design and validation
  • Knowledge of high‑speed digital design and Serdes interconnects
  • Knowledge of LEO/GEO communications payload
  • Electronic circuitry radiation effects and mitigation techniques
  • DC/DC power supply design
  • Knowledge of environmental, thermal, safety and EMI/EMC standards
  • Practical use of scripting languages Tcl/Python/Perl etc.
