Overview

Head of Admissions at King’s College School Wimbledon. The successful candidate will be an ambassador for King’s, responsible for ensuring an exceptional admissions experience across the junior and senior schools (7+ to 16+) and for working closely with the Wimbledon Common Preparatory School. The role supports the school’s next phase of development, including co-education expansion, bursaries access, and the plan to establish a junior school on a new campus. The postholder will work across the school, lead the admissions team and contribute to the school’s aims in representation and accessibility in pupil admissions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the whole school admissions team and the bursaries and access officer, directing work across the admissions process to deliver an exceptional experience for prospective families at King’s events.
  • Ensure admission of pupils at all entry points to the school (7+ through 16+), and work with feeder schools to sustain optimal pupil intake and representation.
  • Act as an ambassador for King’s, communicating the school’s character and strengths to prospective families and the wider community.
  • Collaborate with senior management teams in both the senior and junior schools to coordinate admissions events and related processes.
  • Lead and empower staff to achieve school ambitions in admissions, representation, accessibility and safeguarding best practices.

Qualifications and experience

  • Management and leadership experience at a senior level, with significant experience in school admissions.
  • Understanding of independent school admissions and the sector’s codes of conduct; familiarity with GDPR considerations.
  • Experience in leading teams, working collaboratively with other leaders, and in strategic and day-to-day school operations.
  • Ability to engage diverse stakeholders, cultivate senior level relationships, and advocate for an inclusive and accessible admissions process.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children, with evidence of professional integrity and alignment with King’s ethos.
  • Experience in project management and use of information management systems; proactive problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Willingness to innovate, adopt digital technologies, and continuously improve admissions practice.
