We are seeking a Head of Business Development to join our Senior Operating Team at BPAS.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the full business development lifecycle, from opportunity identification to contract implementation, ensuring the commercial sustainability of our services and advancing our charitable aims.

This role is for 36 hours per week over Monday to Friday. It\'s a hybrid position, working from home with travel to Head Office in Leamington Spa and BPAS units expected as required.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and deliver BPAS business development strategy, supporting organisational goals.
  • Lead the full tender lifecycle, from identifying opportunities to contract negotiation and implementation.
  • Manage and grow relationships with NHS commissioners, government agencies, and sector stakeholders.
  • Provide commercial insight and robust financial modelling to inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee contract performance, reporting, and compliance across all business development activities.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team, fostering innovation and responsiveness.
  • Champion BPAS mission, driving growth and sustainability in our values-driven organisation.

You combine commercial insight and analytical rigour with a genuine commitment to BPAS\' mission and values. You thrive in complex, fast-moving environments and have the confidence to drive change at all levels.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive organisational growth.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of NHS commissioning, public sector contracting, and healthcare markets.

Location: Hybrid - working from home with days in Head Office Leamington Spa and BPAS units when required.

Base location: BPAS Head Office, Orion House, Athena Drive, Tachbrook Park, Leamington Spa, CV34 6RQ.

Salary: £75,000 - £80,000 per annum - depending on skills and experience.

Hours Per Week: 36 hours

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:00 and Friday 09:00 to 15:30

On call: All members of the Senior OperatingTeam will be required to participate in an on-call rota. The On-Call policy andprocedure is being reviewed and revised, however it is envisaged thatparticipation will involve being available to receive emergency / on-calltelephone calls up to 9pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays and Sundaysapproximately 4 times per year.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in relevant field or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Can you describe a healthcare tender or contract you led from start to finish? What challenges did you face, and how did you secure a successful outcome?
  • How have you contributed to strategic discussions as part of a senior leadership team? Can you provide an example where your input influenced organisational strategy or operations?

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of relevant charity legislation and governance, and how it informs organisational decisions.
  • Skilled in analysing complex internal and external information, using data to monitor performance, inform strategy, and guide operational decisions.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels and drive change diplomatically.
