BenefitsSix weeks paid holiday (plus bank holidays) pro rataGenerous contributory pensionMental Health and Wellbeing supportHealthcare plansPerformance recognition plansAccess to campus facilitiesHybrid working, Monday to Friday 9.00 – 5.00Core ResponsibilitiesThe Head of Health and Safety will develop, implement, and maintain health and safety procedures across the University of Bradford to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.Key duties include:Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.Investigate accidents and incidents and drive continuous improvement.Ensure compliance with statutory tests, inspections and legislation.Lead strategic and operational Health & Safety initiatives across the University.Provide clear, pragmatic, accurate, timely and decisive guidance to the management team on H&S matters.Promote a Health & Safety culture and influence improvement actions across all operations.QualificationsNEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent NVQ level 6.Qualified to degree level in a safety related subject or equivalent experience.Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH) with a minimum level of Certified Member (CertIOSH).High level of experience working in a multi-faceted organisation.Broad and extensive health and safety leadership knowledge and experience.Knowledge and experience leading a Health and Safety Team.Strong written and verbal communication and influencing skills.Self‑motivated with the ability to plan and organise own workload and manage conflicting deadlines without supervision.Ability to contribute advice and solutions to support resolution of complex HSW problems and issues.DesirableNEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent and/or experience in a fire safety role.Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS).Experience working in a HE environment.LocationBradford, England, United KingdomEEO StatementBradford University is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, all applications will be considered.
