Head of Risk

Salary - £100,000

London/ hybrid (1/2 day per week in the office)

Currently partnered with a Chief Risk Officer to build out their compliance and risk functions of a high-growth General Insurer. This is well-suited to individuals who want to be part of a fast-paced environment with tech at the heart of the business.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain the organisation’s Risk Management Framework (RMF), ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, the firm’s risk appetite, and overall growth strategy.
• Foster a strong risk culture across the organisation by promoting awareness, accountability, and consistency in risk management practices.
• Advise the Chief Risk Officer, Board, and Audit & Risk Committee on strategic and emerging risk issues.
• Identify, assess, and monitor enterprise-wide risks, including strategic, operational, conduct, financial crime, data, cyber, outsourcing, and insurance risks.
• Lead scenario analysis, emerging risk assessments, and stress testing to evaluate potential business impacts.
• Maintain comprehensive risk registers, Risk & Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), and key risk indicators (KRIs) to support effective oversight.
• Provide independent second-line challenge to business risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Partner with senior leaders and risk owners to enhance control effectiveness and embed operational resilience.
• Ensure risk mitigation actions are proportionate, practical, and aligned with the firm’s risk appetite.
• Produce clear, timely, and actionable risk reports for the CR&CO, Senior Leadership Team, and Audit & Risk Committee.
• Present risk insights and analytics in a way that supports informed strategic decision-making.
• Strengthen governance processes to ensure consistent oversight and accountability across all risk areas.
