Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Head of Technology to join our academy from 1 January 2026. Your role will include leading a department that offers a wide range of subjects including GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition, Design and Technology and Art, Craft and Design at Key Stage 4; Art and Design (3D Design) and Food Science and Nutrition at Key Stage 5; and Design and Technology and Food Technology at Key Stage 3. The successful candidate will be able to teach outstanding lessons across the age and ability range, preferably with a specialism in Design and Technology.

About the School

The Ripley Academy is an 11-18 school located in Derbyshire close to Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield and within easy reach of the Peak District. We are a member of the East Midlands Education Trust and work in close partnership with the other academies within the Trust. The school was inspected by Ofsted in February 2025 and was judged to have taken effective action to maintain the "good" standards in all areas from its previous inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Technology department across Key Stages 3-5.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across the age and ability range, with a focus on Design and Technology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the Trust to uphold high standards and drive improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong leadership and management experience in a secondary education setting.
  • Specialism in Design and Technology is preferred.
  • Ability to teach KS3- KS5 and to model outstanding teaching practices.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: M1 - UPS3 plus TLR2c, £41,133 - £59,265

Starting Date: January 2026
