About CHISEL:

CHISEL is a registered housing association based across south-east London, Brighton and Colchester. We were born 40 years ago to support small housing co-ops develop their own homes through self-build or conversion. We were originally known as Co-operative Housing in South-East London.Often these co-ops would be formed from marginalised groups who were prevented from accessing social housing.

CHISEL has recently relaunched with a dynamic executive team, and a board of sector specialists and residents.

CHISEL owns and manages 240 homes, of which 70 were built by their residents – and of a unique timber-frame design, inspired directly by Walter Segal, and aiming to be sustainable many years before it was part of the zeitgeist

The rest of our homes are in converted houses or were custom-built, and are largely in neighbourhoods in Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley, Croydon, Colchester and Brighton and Hove. CHISEL is also rolling out a new wave of supported Housing in Brighton.
