Housing Solution Advisor - Housing Solutions

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated individual to help clients at risk of homelessness or living in unsuitable accommodation. We are seeking front line Housing Solutions Advisors to join a team that makes a difference and transforms lives.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake homeless assessments and process applications to the Authority's Common Housing Register.
  • Work to prevent homelessness by producing innovative solutions for clients remaining in the home or finding alternative accommodation.
  • Manage a complex and detailed caseload in line with Bridgend’s service standards.
  • Plan and prioritise work effectively to contribute towards a high‑quality housing service.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to prevent homelessness and reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.
  • Respond adaptively to changing circumstances; work well under pressure and use initiative.
  • Protect children, young people or adults at risk as a core responsibility of all council employees.
  • Greet customers through the medium of Welsh (a requirement for this post).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience of managing complex and detailed casework, including homelessness prevention casework.
  • Experience of homelessness legislation and making enquiries and legal decisions in line with statutory duties of a local authority.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partner agencies and to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Good problem-solving skills, assertiveness balanced with sensitivity, and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload to meet service standards.
