About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Team Lead to provide strategic direction and hands-on leadership for our IT operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of critical IT infrastructure while managing a small team and external service providers. You’ll balance day-to-day operations with longer-term projects, driving improvements that align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Roadmap: Develop infrastructure policies, roadmaps, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and align services with organisational needs.
  • Budget & Vendor Management: Manage the infrastructure budget, oversee vendor relationships, and lead procurement of hardware/software.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop IT Infrastructure team members; conduct performance reviews and ensure effective resource allocation across projects and operations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver infrastructure projects that support business priorities.
  • Operational Oversight: Ensure scalability, stability, performance, and security of IT systems, including servers, networks, data centres, and cloud platforms.
  • Disaster Recovery: Oversee regular DR testing and ensure continuity of essential services during major incidents.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management or similar role.
  • Strong background with Microsoft Windows Servers, Exchange, and VMware products (including Horizon virtual desktops).
  • Experience with backup solutions for Windows and VMware.
  • Technical knowledge of Windows Desktop, Microsoft 365, Storage Area Networks (SAN), and networking (LAN/WAN/VPN).

Beneficial

  • ITIL or enterprise architecture framework knowledge/certification.
  • Cloud platform knowledge (Azure or AWS) or relevant solution architecture certification.

Reporting

This is a line management role with responsibility for a small team and outsourced service providers.
