Overview We are seeking an Intelligence Research Officer to join the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The Environment Agency aims to be an intelligence-led organisation, and this role supports investigations by developing and accessing intelligence from a range of sources to inform decision making and provide actionable intelligence products for customers. Environmental crime is a strategic priority, and this role helps prioritise and drive interventions to remove unlawful operators from waste regimes. Responsibilities
Pro-actively develop and access intelligence from a range of sources to inform decision making. Provide actionable intelligence products for customers and support investigations. Support incident response and business continuity by taking an incident role and being available to respond to incidents. This may attract additional payment and require full training and alternative working arrangements. Contribute to operations across the Environment Agency’s enforcement community, providing intelligence products and assessments to colleagues.
Experience / Skills / Qualifications
Experience collecting and evaluating data from a wide variety of sources to produce or inform intelligence products; ability to interrogate IT systems and databases; enthusiasm and curiosity for finding information. Good communication skills with the ability to listen and transmit information effectively. Ability to represent the Environment Agency professionally with partners; use own initiative and adapt approach as needed. Skills in using standard IT packages; ability to retrieve information accurately and efficiently. Strong teamwork and an inclusive, supportive approach. Ability to juggle multiple administrative tasks and switch between activities as required.
Additional Information
Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and Sheffield offices may be required on occasions.
