Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team. You will support area teams by providing Memex training and promote the use and benefits of Memex and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. Providing face to face training to area staff on our Intelligence system, MEMEX. Providing support and training to enable area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches. Supervising intelligence logs to ensure high standard of quality in submissions. Creating entities from Memex submissions. Providing regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance. Ensuring high standards of quality of intelligence submissions. Other duties that are commensurate with the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area teams and promote Memex use
  • Deliver face-to-face training on MEMEX and support submissions and searches
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure quality
  • Create entities from Memex submissions
  • Provide regular performance reports and feedback
  • Maintain high standards of intelligence submissions
  • Undertake other duties commensurate with the role
  • Respond to incidents as required, with potential for incident payment and training

Qualifications / Experience

  • Good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems
  • Ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach
  • Excellent influencing skills and ensuring Memex use and safety checks
  • Experience building strong relationships
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, inclusive training
  • Excellent communication and ability to give feedback
  • Strong self-management and organizational skills
  • Teamwork skills

Location and Availability

Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices where staff are based will be required on occasions. Interviews will be via Microsoft Teams and are expected to be in October. We welcome applications from diverse groups. Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) will be required.
