Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems to understand Threat, Risk and Harm and improve approaches to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety. This is a new role within the Intelligence and Partnerships team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Memex training to area teams and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
  • Deliver face-to-face training on our Intelligence system, MEMEX; support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
  • Supervise intelligence logs to ensure a high standard of quality in submissions; create entities from Memex submissions.
  • Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance; ensure high standards of intelligence submissions.
  • Respond to incidents as part of the incident role, with potential additional payment and full training; flexible working arrangements to support incident role.
  • Work with the Intelligence Team to manage and develop criminal intelligence and maintain relationships with partners to drive an intelligence-led approach to environmental crime across regimes.

Experience/Skills / Qualifications

  • A good understanding of intelligence and intelligence systems; ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach across teams.
  • Excellent influencing skills to promote Memex use and mandatory safety checks; strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, inclusive training; excellent communication with ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
  • Strong self-management, organisational skills and teamwork to support colleagues in achieving goals.
  • Comfort working in a dispersed team; flexibility for home/office working with occasional travel to Birmingham and other offices.

  • Location is flexible; interviews will be via Microsoft Teams in October.
