As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.

As part of the Intelligence and Partnerships team, you will support area teams by providing Memex training, promote the use and benefits of Memex, and improve the quality of intelligence submitted. Responsibilities include face-to-face training on MEMEX, enabling area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches, supervising intelligence logs, creating entities from Memex submissions, providing regular performance reports and feedback, ensuring high standards of intelligence submissions, and other duties commensurate with the role.

Experience/skills Required

  • A good understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems
  • An ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach and embed across teams
  • Excellent influencing skills, ensuring Memex use is the norm and safety checks are mandatory
  • Success in building strong, effective relationships
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging, effective and inclusive training
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance
  • Strong self-management and organisational skills
  • Great teamwork to support colleagues achieve common goals

Contact and additional information

  • You will need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. Location is flexible with a mix of home and office working; travel to Birmingham and other offices will be required on occasions.
