Overview

As an Intelligence Technical Officer in the Environment Agency’s National Environmental Crime Unit, you will build confidence and capability across area teams in intelligence-led ways of working and the use of intelligence systems, to build a greater understanding of the Threat, Risk and Harm and drive a better approach to tackling environmental offending and protect officer safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide Memex training to area staff and promote the use and benefits of Memex; improve the quality of intelligence submissions.
• Provide face to face training on MEMEX and support area teams to submit intelligence and conduct searches.
• Supervise intelligence logs to ensure high standard of quality in submissions.
• Create entities from Memex submissions.
• Provide regular reports on performance and feedback on ways to improve performance.
• Ensure high standards of quality of intelligence submissions.
• Perform other duties commensurate with the role.
• Be flexible on working arrangements; respond to incidents as needed with potential additional pay and training.

Experience/skills Required

• Understanding of Intelligence and Intelligence systems; ability to advocate for an intelligence-led approach.
• Excellent influencing skills; Memex use and safety checks mandatory.
• Strong relationship-building; ability to create and deliver engaging, effective training.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to give feedback on intelligence submission performance.
• Self-management, organisational skills; teamwork.
• Comfort with working in a dispersed team; location flexible; travel to Birmingham and other offices as required.
• Security vetting checks (SC and NPPV3) required; visa restrictions noted.
