About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and values-driven Finance Director to join a respected housing organisation during a period of continued progress and development.

This senior leadership role sits on the Executive Team and oversees three key areas – Finance, IT, and People & Culture. The successful candidate will bring strategic direction, professional assurance, and a supportive leadership style that helps the teams continue to grow and perform at their best.

We are looking for someone with a genuine understanding of the social housing and third-sector landscape, who combines strong financial expertise with an appreciation for people, culture and organisational development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial planning, budgeting, treasury management and reporting activity.
  • Provide strategic insight and financial assurance to the Executive Team and Board.
  • Oversee the People & Culture function, ensuring effective HR, OD and compliance practices.
  • Provide oversight of IT systems, security and digital development.
  • Maintain strong governance and risk management across all areas.
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing multidisciplinary team, encouraging collaboration and trust.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA or equivalent) with senior leadership experience.
  • Background in social housing or a closely related not-for-profit or public sector organisation.
  • Strong financial management and treasury experience, including long‑term business planning.
  • Experience working with Boards or Committees and presenting financial information clearly.
  • Proven leadership skills – able to support, develop and inspire teams.
  • Experience across HR, OD, and IT leadership.
  • Familiarity with BRIXX or similar financial modelling tools.
  • Understanding of housing regulation and governance frameworks.

The Person

  • A calm, credible and approachable leader who builds trust quickly.
  • Understands the values and purpose of the third sector.
  • Strong communicator, able to engage financial and non‑financial audiences alike.
  • Pragmatic and proactive, comfortable being both strategic and hands‑on.
  • Confident leading through change and maintaining team stability.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid and flexible working available – typically two office days per week, though open to discussion.
  • Condensed hours and alternative working patterns considered.
  • Suitable for an experienced Director or a Head of Finance looking to step up to executive level.
