This pivotal role involves leading the day-to-day operations of the planning team on a major project for a high profile client to ensure seamless project execution. This role will be based at our site office near Inverness with occasional remote working.
This opportunity has come about through growth driven by significant investment in the electricity market and need to increase quality of project controls supporting delivery of larger scale projects. To meet the need for a sustainable and secure development of the UK electricity supply, significant new build for transmission and distribution assets are essential to achieve 2050 targets. This is resulting in a surge in opportunities and a need to grow the transmission & distribution construction sector by approximately three times the current size.
This role will suit an experienced planner with a proven track record in planning and scheduling management of large EPC projects. Our opportunity will give scope to develop yourself and, with the planning manager, to build your project planning team during this dynamic time in the transmission and distribution sector. Preferably you will have experience of transmission projects under your belt, but we’d also be open to hearing from individuals with relevant construction experience from other sectors including civils, rail, utilities, oil & gas, or petrochemicals. Experience of the NEC form of contract is important but not essential.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
- Development of the detailed project programme, integrating contractor schedules, internal project management, financing and engineering activities, and regulatory/consenting requirements, ensuring alignment with key project milestones and schedule drivers and accounting for interfaces between packages and scopes of work.
- Lead the planning team for a major project with a high profile client.
- Ensure timely and accurate schedule updates to reflect current progress on projects.
- Identify and advise on any foreseeable execution risks on projects.
- Ensure management of all changes and variations impacting the schedule.
Essential
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in a related discipline
- Highly skilled in use of Primavera P6 planning software.
- Significant major project planning experience, including building fully integrated programmes and supporting project management to identify and quantify impacts of any delay and/or change/early warning/compensation events.
- Advanced understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilities
- Advanced ability to develop project schedules and plans
- Advanced ability to prepare resource loading, progress and staffing plans
- Excellent understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenarios
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with internal colleagues and within client’s organisations.
- Exceptional organisational skills and able to multi-task.
- Working knowledge of risk management processes/ techniques and experience in facilitating risk workshops with project/ assignment teams
- Experience of NEC contracts
- Experience in the training and development of others.
