Learning and Development Designer, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Cardiff, London or Remote (UK)

We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.

We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.

UK Remote | £30,000-£35,000 dependent on experience + Benefits | An initial 12 month fixed term contract (with possibility of converting to perm).

Our Team

We’ve found that the best way to learn is to do so in an environment which is as close to the actual job as possible. Training is 75% independent learning in a Learning Management System (LMS), where COps discover our app, products, and internal tools through videos, infographics, realistic mock-ups and prototypes. COps then embed what they’ve learned through workshops that encourage group discussions and planned activities.

Your role is to design and build the learning experiences that COps spend 75% of their training time using. The training ethos reflects the design, simplicity, functionality and ‘magic moments’ of our app.

You’ll use Instructional Design Standards and the best design apps to create experiences that prepare COps for their roles while ensuring consistent brand design, functionality and learner experience.

Responsibilities

  • Using curriculums and learning outcomes created by our Business Partners, build effective and engaging learning experiences. Create text copy, media assets and knowledge checks/assessments for training programmes.
  • Develop writing skills to create engaging and accessible text copy forming the foundations for independent learning courses.
  • Curate our Learning Management System with a risk mindset by replacing and archiving outdated training and maintaining accurate live training Courses.
  • Design training with accessibility, inclusion and relevance in mind so every element can be used by all learners, including those at our global sites.
  • Develop skills in software platforms and technologies, and share learnings with other training designers to build a community of practice.
  • Contribute to discussions on Learning/Performance strategy by providing insights and spotting opportunities and trends (e.g., AI, software capabilities or new tools).
  • Maintain a strong learning experience mindset, ensuring functionality and accessibility work together for relevant and engaging learning experiences.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders, including Business Partners, Ops leads and COps users of training.
  • Be motivated to learn and develop a broad set of skills (writing, relationship management, project management, learning experience curation, risk management, design and media, software and AI).
  • Proactively maintain, update, verify/review and archive courses and programmes in the LMS.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of Instructional Design Principles and adult learning theory.
  • Care deeply about the impact of good training on learners and the business.
