Job Purpose

To manage a caseload of Fast Track/MOJ Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims involving motorbikes, mopeds, push bikes, and e‑scooters, overseeing all stages of the investigation and litigation process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of MOJ (Part 8) and Part 7 cases, delivering high‑quality claims handling with a strong focus on client outcomes. The role involves proactive litigation to generate fee income and contribute to the overall success of the business.
  • Assess liability and quantum—review medical reports, research and apply relevant case law, draft schedules of special damages, and evaluate appropriate compensation awards. Identify cases where litigation is tactically advantageous and proceed accordingly.
  • Maintain a commercial approach to settlements, including advising clients on litigation and cost risks. Achieve performance targets (e.g., profit costs, case issuance, settlements) without compromising the firm’s integrity.
  • Effectively liaise with sources, medical agencies, experts, third‑party insurers, and other stakeholders to ensure cases progress efficiently. Attend court hearings or instruct barristers in line with internal policies to provide formal advice on quantum and liability.
  • Perform additional tasks as deemed relevant and reasonable by the business.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Must be a biker—either through personal experience owning and/or riding a motorbike, or through professional experience handling bike‑related claims.
  • Qualified Solicitor, Member/Fellow of CILEX with a strong background in RTA claims handling.
  • Proven litigation skills, including robust drafting capabilities and the ability to negotiate effective settlements at the appropriate stage.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), relevant legislation, and applicable case law.
  • Proficient in using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Committed to delivering high‑quality service to both clients and the firm.
  • Capable of compiling and analysing data to inform decision‑making.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to identify opportunities to optimise case outcomes for both the client and the business.
