Locum Optometrist – Colchester

Join to apply for the Locum Optometrist role at OutsideClinic. We are the UK's leading provider of optical care at home, seeking passionate optometrists to join us at the forefront of domiciliary care.

Location: Colchester and surrounding areas

Days: 3-5 days per week (No weekends)

Rate: Daily rate + Commission

You Will

• Help around 6-7 patients every day, visiting them in their own homes. Appointments are longer (1 hour) to allow time for relationship building and gold-standard care.
• Be trusted to make autonomous decisions and be supported by the senior optometrist team at head office for advice or a second opinion when needed.
• Use the latest equipment, including mobile slit lamp, I-care tonometer, and our digital records system (no paperwork).

We deliver life-changing service across the UK, supporting the NHS to provide vital eye care to those who may struggle to access high-street services.

Location pattern

Each day you’ll see a cluster of 6–7 patients within the same local area. Travel can be up to 50 miles from your home postcode, but this won’t be every day. Some days you may work just 5 miles away, others 30–40 miles. Once in your area for the day, you’ll have short drives between patients as they’ll be clustered in the same postcode region.
