Role Summary and Impact

The Investment team, a core unit within WPP Media, focuses on negotiating, managing, and delivering all media deals. This role executes and coordinates media buying and strategy across video, display, and audio advertising, primarily by establishing and managing partnerships with media suppliers. Our goal is to secure the most cost-effective and best-performing inventory for our buying businesses, collaborating closely with suppliers and the wider Investment team. The role requires strong problem-solving and program management skills, as well as excellent business development, account management, and rapid learning abilities for new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day publisher relationships; act as key contact for ad operations and programmatic sales.
  • Process media bookings via internal systems (Radia).
  • Interface with WPP Media solutions for direct publisher portfolio queries.
  • Accountable for delivery management and performance analysis of direct media buys (fill rates, performance, volume).
  • Inform team of media supplier changes and organizations.
  • Support business development of new products within existing relationships.
  • Manage planning and allocation of investment across key products.
  • Own Programmatic Guaranteed campaign delivery and publisher onboarding.
  • Proactively advocate WPP Media businesses with external partners.
  • Conduct monthly management/review of direct supplier partnerships.
  • Assist in negotiating best rates for WPP Media.
  • Setup new media partnerships for high-quality, high-performing inventory.
  • Develop business with new and existing suppliers for optimal inventory access.
  • Build strong relationships with media suppliers at all levels (Commercial Director/MD, Trading Director).
  • Manage new media partnership pipeline in Salesforce, using KPIs for stakeholder visibility.
  • Coordinate successful onboarding of new media partners (inventory vetting, booking, initial quality/performance analysis).
  • Handover new partnerships to media account management for ongoing delivery, performance, viewability, and integrity.
  • Participate in monthly supplier evaluations, planning future investment.
  • Ensure effective use of media value.
  • Lead evaluation of sell-side technology platforms.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven account management and negotiation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of online business models and programmatic.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and network.
  • Highly analytical, numerate, and detail-oriented.
  • Clear and concise communication (written and verbal).
  • Proactive, resilient, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
