Role Summary and Impact

The Investment team is a core unit in WPP Media with a primary focus on negotiating, managing and delivering all the media deals across all Media Owners. The role will help execute and coordinate the media buying and strategy across the video/display/audio advertising space, with a focus on establishing partnerships with media suppliers. We aim to buy the most cost‑effective and best performing inventory for our buying businesses, working closely with our media suppliers and the Investment team to achieve these goals. Media supply for our products will be operated across multiple ad server/SSP technologies to facilitate media transactions for our buying businesses across preferred supply side partners. Our buying business operates different models to accommodate unique requirements of our advertising clients; you will be required to problem solve and program manage media execution. You will need to demonstrate excellent business development, account management skills and the ability to learn quickly across new technologies and businesses.

Core focuses

  • Establishing new media partnerships; negotiate terms favourable to WPP Media across price, access and quality of media we buy on behalf of our advertisers
  • Collaborate with Trading teams to construct media deals with publishers across multiple digital channels
  • Work with Technical Operations to understand pressures in current activity and help resolve tactical trading issues; apply media value where relevant
  • Plan and execute bespoke media buy requirements such as demographic measured media investment
  • Program manage the WPP Media sell-side setup, developing strategy and product with suppliers and internal teams

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day publisher relationships; be the primary contact for publisher ad operations and programmatic sales
  • Process media bookings through internal systems (Radia)
  • Interface with WPP Media solutions for queries on the direct publisher portfolio
  • Deliver and analyse performance of direct media buys (fill rates, performance, volume)
  • Provide awareness of media supplier organisations and changes to the team
  • Support business development of new products within existing relationships
  • Plan and allocate investment across key products with support from partnerships and trading teams
  • Manage and own Programmatic Guaranteed campaign delivery and publisher onboarding

External

  • Advocate the WPP Media businesses when meeting with external partners
  • Provide monthly management/reviews of partnerships with direct suppliers
  • Assist with negotiating favorable rates for WPP media
  • Set up new media partnerships that provide quality and high-performing inventory
  • Develop with new and existing suppliers to access inventory at desirable buying points
  • Build strong relationships with media suppliers at all levels (Commercial/Trading Directors)

Internal

  • Pipeline management of new media partnerships in Salesforce with KPI visibility for stakeholders
  • Coordinate onboarding of new media partners; inventory vetting, booking administration, initial quality and KPI testing
  • Handover of new partnerships to media account management for delivery and performance management
  • Participate in monthly supplier evaluations to plan future investments
  • Utilize media value where applicable
  • Lead evaluation of sell-side technology platforms
