Overview This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an operationally vital part of the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme — a flagship initiative shaping how we understand and manage the water environment. The Programme supports Defra's wider NCEA programme in building a groundbreaking evidence base on the state and value of our natural environment and ecosystems to transform environmental decision-making in England. Responsibilities
Serve as the technical specialist for the Land Access Database, a new database storing landowner details of sites we monitor. Provide oversight for all aspects of landowner access for the monitoring networks within the programme. Maintain landowner data in compliance with Environment Agency and legal requirements. Collaborate with operations specialists to ensure delivery aligns with programme goals and timelines and maintain strong cross-team relationships. Offer energy, initiative and tenacity to drive data management and governance of a key dataset. Work with geospatial data, interact with internal and external customers, and manage datasets.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience with geospatial data, interacting with internal and external customers, and managing datasets. Strong data management and GIS skills; ability to maintain landowner datasets and perform spatial analysis for NCEA networks. Ability to provide expert technical leadership through training, guidance, and optimization of data management processes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot access and programme delivery challenges. Adaptable and proactive, with responsiveness to evolving priorities.
Team and Working Environment The post sits within the EA’s NCEA Operations team, which implements 11 new monitoring networks. The team collaborates with the wider Environment Agency and beyond, offering development and support for staff. Additional Information
