Overview NCEA Land Access Database Technical Lead – 31738 This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an operationally vital part of the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme, which supports Defra's wider NCEA programme in building an evidence base on the state and value of our natural environment and ecosystems to transform environmental decision-making in England. The post works with the EA’s NCEA Operations team to implement monitoring networks and manage landowner data in accordance with Environment Agency and legal requirements. The role involves leadership of the Land Access Database, ensuring access arrangements for monitoring networks, data governance, and collaboration across teams. Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best possible access arrangements for monitoring networks. Maintain landowner datasets and perform spatial analysis for NCEA networks with strong data management and GIS skills. Provide expert technical leadership through training, guidance, and optimization of data management processes. Work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot challenges in access and programme delivery. Be adaptable and proactive, responding effectively to evolving priorities.
Experience and Qualifications
Experience working with geospatial data and managing datasets; ability to interact with internal and external customers. Demonstrable data management and GIS abilities, with a track record of governing key datasets. Ability to drive a data management project and contribute to decision-making within environmental management contexts.
Additional Information The post sits within the National Monitoring – Fish and Ecology team. The working location is flexible as a national role, with an EA office base location.
