Overview

NCEA Land Access Database Technical Lead – 31738. This role is part of the Environment Agency’s Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) Programme, supporting how we understand and manage the water environment in England. The post focuses on the Land Access Database to store landowner details for monitoring sites, ensure data governance and comply with legal requirements, and align delivery with programme goals and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best possible access arrangements for monitoring networks.
  • Maintain landowner datasets and perform spatial analysis for NCEA networks, with strong data management and GIS skills.
  • Provide expert technical leadership through training, guidance, and optimization of data management processes.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot access and programme delivery challenges.
  • Be adaptable and proactive, responding effectively to evolving priorities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with geospatial data and interacting with internal and external customers; ability to manage datasets and perform spatial analysis.
  • Strong data management and GIS skills; ability to lead data governance for a key dataset.
  • Proven ability to train, guide, and optimize data management processes.
  • Experience working on projects and programmes with diverse stakeholders; capable of independent and collaborative work.
  • Customer-focused mindset with ability to manage evolving priorities and deliver results.
