Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new products in the space of health supplements, nutraceuticals, etc., aligned with consumer needs and market trends.
- Translate ideas into commercially viable products, ensuring technical feasibility and regulatory compliance.
- Lead and optimize lab-scale experiments, ensuring robust data generation and analysis.
- Manage pilot production and testing to ensure product quality and functionality.
- Recommend improvements in formulation, process, and equipment based on experimental outcomes.
- Develop detailed product specifications, including formulation, dosage, target audience, desired health benefits, and other product development-related documentation.
- Governance, Planning & Compliance: Ensure all R&D activities adhere to internal governance, safety protocols, and regulatory standards. Support planning and budgeting for R&D projects, ensuring alignment with business goals. Maintain zero production loss due to non-compliance or technical failure.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Regulatory, Quality, Procurement, and Marketing to ensure seamless product development and launch. Support technology transfer and scale-up activities in coordination with manufacturing teams. Drive cost optimization and process improvement initiatives.
- Business Impact: Contribute to business growth by developing new products and improving existing formulations. Identify opportunities for innovation that enhance product performance, consumer appeal, and profitability.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Food Science, Nutrition Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product development (preferably with at least 3–4 years in health supplements industry in India), with a strong commercialization track record.
- Expertise in protein-based formulations, functional ingredients, and sensory optimization.
- Experience in route scouting, process development, and rapid prototyping.
- Experience in working with contract manufacturers and the ability to independently manage on-site projects.
