We’re delighted to be collaborating with a leading UK Law firm that are conducting a market search for a Newly Qualified solicitor to join their expanding Litigation team in Belfast. Our client is open to solicitors from claimant / plaintiff, defence or commercial litigation backgrounds.

Your New Role

In your new role as the Newly Qualified litigation solicitor, you will;

  • Form part of a high-performance team of Solicitors to assist with progression of matters, including discovery, analysis of quantum evidence, liaising with counsel and third-party experts, trial preparation and legal research and build your own caseload.
  • Work within an insurance defence litigation specialist area, to pursue completion of files in line with client instruction to the commercial benefit to the firm.
  • Communicate, build and utilize relationships with colleagues, clients and third parties in a professional and knowledgeable manner; including all methods of communication: in person, over the phone and written
  • Proactively identify next steps required on matter, discussing those aspects with the Lead Lawyer and acting as agreed.
  • Interview witnesses and drafting statements.
  • Liaise with parties involved in claims including the insured, insurer, witnesses etc.
  • Draft pleadings and applications.
  • Instruct counsel and attend conferences, JSMs, mediations both remotely and in person.
  • Attend court in person or by telephone, attend trials, settlement conferences etc as required.
  • Deliver agreed performance targets and quality standards.
  • Maintain case managements systems with up-to-date management information for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with the LSNI regulations.

What You Need To Succeed

As the Newly Qualified litigation solicitor, you will;

  • Be a qualified solicitor (Northern Ireland, England & Wales or the Republic of Ireland), ideally at Newly Qualified (NQ) level or above.
  • Have experience in either claimant / plaintiff, defence or commercial litigation during your solicitor traineeship.
  • Have strong attention to detail and analytical abilities.
  • Be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
