What you\'ll be doing

We\'re looking for a passionate and strategic Outdoor Recreation Manager to lead the planning, delivery, and growth of our outdoor sport initiatives. This role will focus on engaging diverse community groups, developing partnerships, and promoting active lifestyles through outdoor sport and recreation.

This is a full time, permanent post working 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday. You\'ll have flexibility in hybrid working, being both office based at Aylestone Leisure Centre or working remotely from home to suit your needs. However, you will be expected to travel across the city for site visits and so on.

What you\'ll do:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups to identify and develop new opportunities for outdoor sport engagement across different demographics.
  • Design and implement fresh programs with the goal to increase participation in outdoor sports and physical activities, with safety, inclusion and sustainability at the forefront.
  • Work closely with sports clubs, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage marketing, events, and outreach activities to raise awareness and encourage involvement.
  • Manage funding applications, budgets, and monitor project outcomes.
  • Lead and manage the service approach to the operation of Sport on Park bookings and Humberstone Heights Golf Course.

What you\'ll need

  • Proven experience of managing outdoor sport or physical activity programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and network skills to liaise with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of community engagement and inclusion principles and the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets effectively.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor sports, active recreation, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
