Role Summary

Here at Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) the People Business Partner (PBP) is responsible for partnering with one or more Executive Directors, and their leadership teams, to drive business outcomes through people. You will be adept at managing stakeholder relationships and juggling multiple priorities; striking the right balance between support and challenge in order to drive positive change.

The PBP will report into the Head of People Partnering & Operations working closely with the centres of excellence within the People Team, to attract, develop, engage and retain the talent and capabilities needed to accelerate the delivery of Net Zero.

Success in the role will require a data‑driven approach and proven experience in effective management of employee relations and organisational change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Employee Relations cases, including absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, and investigations, supported by the People Advisor.
  • Coordinate cyclical people activities, including workforce planning, performance and reward cycles, and engagement, in partnership with Talent Acquisition (TA) and Learning & Development (L&D).
  • Maintain oversight of policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring legal compliance, market best practice, and alignment with organisational culture.
  • Support People Operations in embedding robust frameworks and processes to drive consistency, compliance, and fairness.
  • Use people data to inform priorities, measure impact, and demonstrate value of People initiatives.
  • Lead organisational design reviews, functional alignment, and role evaluations.

Attract

  • Partner with the TA team to drive advocacy for our employer brand and talent opportunities.

Engage

  • Support embedding organisational values, ensuring clarity of expectations and a fair, consistent culture.
  • Partner with Internal Communications to review engagement insights, facilitate follow‑up sessions, and support leaders in creating and delivering engagement action plans.
  • Ensure all people practices are viewed through a DEI lens to maintain a positive and inclusive culture.

Develop

  • Partner with (L&D) to understand development needs, build line manager capability, and identify and retain high‑potential talent.
  • Support the design and facilitation of targeted capability‑building training programs.
  • Contribute to building and maintaining a strong succession pipeline for critical roles.
  • Drive a high‑performance culture through effective feedback, talent development, and robust management of underperformance and behaviour misalignment with values.

Rewards and Recognition

  • Support the Rewards Partner and business leaders to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions that support equity, talent attraction and retention, and reward the right behaviours.
  • Champion and embed a culture of ongoing recognition that drives engagement, supports retention and aligns with organisational values.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience operating as a strategic Business Partner in a fast‑paced, scaling environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to balance support and challenge.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making capability.
  • Proven Employee Relations case management experience with solid knowledge of current employment legislation.
  • Experience supporting with organisational design and change management initiatives.
  • Commercial mindset with a strong focus on delivery and results.
  • Understanding of learning, development and talent management approaches.
  • Ability to use people data to generate insights and demonstrate value/ROI.
  • TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment) regulations.
