Overview

Platform Specialist – Compute & Storage specialist. Location: London (Onsite/Hybrid). We’re working with a high-performance technology-driven firm seeking a talented Platform Specialist to join their global infrastructure team.

The focus of this role is on scalable compute and storage systems supporting rapid growth through automation, standardisation, and cutting-edge architecture. You'll work on a highly technical team responsible for Linux platform engineering, distributed storage management, and end-to-end infrastructure optimization. This is a hands-on engineering role that blends deep Linux expertise with coding, monitoring, and system design. Ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-uptime environments, and wants to help scale global infrastructure through automation and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable compute and storage platforms across global infrastructure
  • Manage and automate Linux-based systems (RHEL) with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef)
  • Develop internal tooling using Python (or similar) to improve automation, monitoring, and deployment
  • Implement and maintain robust observability systems (e.g., ELK, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus)
  • Contribute to CI/CD practices, version control workflows, and infrastructure-as-code standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise and deliver a mix of short-term needs and long-term engineering projects
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software across the full stack - from physical servers to applications
  • Support hybrid environments including bare metal, hypervisors, containers, and public cloud (AWS/GCP)

The ideal candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience in a technology infrastructure or platform engineering role
  • Strong expertise in Linux systems administration (preferably RHEL-based distributions)
  • Experience managing and scaling distributed storage systems using protocols
  • Solid experience with Ansible, Chef, or other configuration management tools
  • Programming/scripting ability in Python or another high-level language (Go, Rust, etc.)
  • Familiarity with observability tooling such as ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog
  • Experience working in CI/CD environments with modern dev practices (version control, testing pipelines)
  • Exposure to AWS, GCP, and other cloud platforms as part of hybrid or migration-focused environments

Ideal for engineers who want to build and support large-scale systems in an environment that values speed, reliability, and automation.

If this role sounds of interest please apply to the role and I'd be happy to discuss the role in more detail.
