Overview
We are seeking a Practitioner Psychologist to join our in-house clinical team at Underley Gardens School. The role involves working with the education team to deliver psychological assessment and intervention for pupils, with a focus on development, independence, and trauma-informed practice within an education setting. The post supports school development, staff training, and consultation as required, with supervision and a designated clinical lead.
Responsibilities
- Deliver psychological assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, are neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs.
- Hold a psychological caseload with support from a clinical supervisor and site lead.
- Contribute to school development, staff training, and consultation as required.
- Align practice with the OFG Psychological Practice Ways of Working and relevant governing/professional standards.
- Develop formulations and inform clinical intervention plans and recommendations for others.
- Provide and/or contribute to training for different cohorts; produce coherent clinical records, reports, and intervention plans.
- Engage in ongoing CPD and use evaluation tools to demonstrate and improve service effectiveness and outcomes.
- Participate in safeguarding culture and work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Location & Schedule
Locations: Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale; Waterloo Lodge School, Chorley; Oakfield House School, Preston.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, overlapping with core school hours. Full or part-time considered. Permanent contract (term time or flexible arrangements depending on personal circumstances).
Essential Requirements
- HCPC registration (Clinical, Counselling, Forensic, Educational Psychology or equivalent).
- Doctoral-level degree in Clinical/Counselling/Forensic/Educational Psychology (or equivalent if qualified prior to the Doctorate).
- Relevant post-qualification experience in related settings or client groups; experience of multi-disciplinary working and liaison with families/carers.
- Experience of working within different systems in an organization (service development, group and individual work).
- Ability to write accurate clinical records and reports; strong IT skills; ability to work with a range of professionals and to travel if required.
- CPD evidence; ability to make independent clinical decisions when necessary; excellent time management and prioritisation.
- Commitment to organisation values; flexible approach to working environments; full driving license and access to a car.
Desirable
- Experience with specific client groups (e.g., neuro-diverse, SEMH) and setting types (schools/residential care).
- Experience providing supervision; knowledge of current philosophies and legislation affecting clinical practice with the target client group.
- Post-qualification training related to role/service/client group; training in evidence-based interventions.
