Overview
WSP is looking for Principal Engineers and Associates to join our Digital Infrastructure Design Capability within the Intelligent Infrastructure team. We are expanding our Digital Infrastructure Design capability across all areas and seek individuals who are enthusiastic about digital technologies and design methodologies. The role focuses on challenging traditional design practices and conceiving innovative solutions to enhance design and delivery processes.

We operate as consultants, designers, and thought leaders, understanding complex design challenges, providing reliable advice, and creating designs that serve the best interests of our clients, maintenance personnel, and their customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure design schemes at discipline and multi‑discipline levels (dependent on grade) using experience in roadside infrastructure design.
- Collaborate effectively with the team, lead problem-solving efforts, provide support, and address gaps as necessary.
- Ensure the quality of outputs from the team to meet high expectations.
- Engage with clients, align with corporate responsibilities, and escalate issues to senior staff when appropriate.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead design processes and take schemes from inception to handover with clients, including collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines.
- Motivate, develop, and lead junior team members to support their growth and performance.
- Apply problem-solving skills and self-motivation to undertake tasks with minimal peer support.
Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and working towards professional registration with an accredited institute.
- Domain knowledge in a relevant industry such as power, communications, electrical, electronics, and highway design.
Skills
- Understanding of roadside infrastructure and design standards
- Lead design processes, including the use of design tools
- Lead a team in delivering designs or schemes
- Collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines and understand their basic principles
- Collaborate effectively with clients and manage their expectations
- Ability to undertake the role of lead engineer to deliver schemes from inception to handover
- Ability to motivate, develop and lead junior members of the team
- Strong problem-solving and self-motivation with minimal supervision
