Overview

NHS Highland seeks an 8B Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Adult Mental Health Psychological Therapies Service in Argyll and Bute. The post is based in Dunoon and aligned with the Cowal and Bute Community Mental Health Teams. The role involves multi-disciplinary working, leadership, and clinical governance within psychological therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior clinical leadership within the team and contribute to service development.
  • Lead assessment and treatment of complex cases, manage caseloads and waiting lists.
  • Supervise trainees and qualified staff; provide training, consultation, and clinical supervision to colleagues using psychological approaches.
  • Deputise for the Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Lead for Psychological Therapies as required.
  • Support clinical governance of psychological therapies and input into line management of other staff.
  • Deliver a blended intervention model using virtual and face-to-face clinics; travel between locations within Argyll and Bute as needed.
  • Support service development and contribute to a positive work environment with strong links to colleagues in North Highland.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate (or equivalent) level Clinical/Counselling Psychologist.
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexibly with a hybrid model of remote and on-site working requirements.
